A banking court in Islamabad has received a charge sheet in the prohibited funding case involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan, marking a significant development in the long-running legal proceedings. Court officials confirmed that the registrarโs office has begun reviewing the challan, in which Khan has been named as the principal accused. Meanwhile, the case is scheduled for hearing on April 30.
Officials review challan as legal process advances
According to court sources, the scrutiny of the charge sheet forms a key step before formal proceedings move forward. In addition, authorities have not yet disclosed further procedural details, but the review process is expected to continue ahead of the scheduled hearing. Consequently, the case remains under close judicial attention as part of broader financial investigations involving political figures.
At the same time, this development adds to multiple ongoing legal challenges faced by the former premier. Observers note that the case has remained active for an extended period, drawing sustained political and public attention.
High court sets parallel hearing in corruption appeal
Separately, the Islamabad High Court has scheduled a hearing on the same date for appeals filed by Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi. The appeals challenge their conviction in the ยฃ190 million corruption reference.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif will hear the case. Previously, the court had set April 22 for proceedings; however, it postponed the hearing due to security restrictions and road closures in the capital.
As a result, both cases now coincide on April 30, highlighting a critical day in ongoing legal proceedings involving the former prime minister.
