Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will visit the United Kingdom from August 24 to 28 for official talks.
During the five-day visit, Dar will hold meetings with senior British officials and discuss Pakistan-UK relations and matters of mutual interest.
Dar to Meet Senior British Officials
According to the Foreign Office, Dar will meet British Foreign Secretary David Lammy during his visit.
He will also meet Stephen Doughty, the UK Foreign Office minister responsible for Pakistan.
In addition, the deputy prime minister will hold discussions with other senior British government officials.
The meetings will provide an opportunity to review bilateral relations and explore areas of mutual interest between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
Pakistani Crew Case to Feature in Maritime Talks
Dar is also scheduled to meet the secretary-general of the International Maritime Organization during his UK visit.
The meeting is expected to address the case of Pakistani crew members aboard the oil tanker MT Onor 25.
The vessel has reportedly been held by Somali pirates, making the safety of the Pakistani crew an important issue during the discussions.
Darโs meeting with the International Maritime Organization chief will therefore provide an opportunity to discuss the situation involving the crew members.
Commonwealth and Parliamentary Meetings
During his stay, Dar will also meet Commonwealth Secretary-General Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey.
Furthermore, he is expected to meet British members of Parliament during the official visit.
Dar will also hold meetings with representatives of the Pakistani community in the United Kingdom.
These engagements will add a wider dimension to his five-day visit beyond formal government-level discussions.
Pakistan-UK Relations on Agenda
The Foreign Office said Darโs visit would provide an opportunity to discuss bilateral relations between Pakistan and the UK. The talks will also cover matters of mutual interest to both countries.
Overall, the visit brings together diplomatic, maritime and community engagements during Darโs five-day stay in the United Kingdom.
