Iran says Operation โNasr 2โ hit radar systems and military infrastructure
TEHRAN: Iranโs Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed on Tuesday that its naval and aerospace forces launched a new wave of missile and drone strikes against US military assets in Bahrain as part of the second phase of Operation โNasr 2 (Victory 2).โ
In an official statement, the IRGC said the operation targeted the US Navyโs Fifth Fleet and was carried out in response to recent American military actions. The statement asserted that Iranian forces struck fuel storage facilities and several radar installations supporting US operations in Bahrain.
According to the IRGC, the targets included a Patriot air defence radar, an air-control radar used by the fleet, and a C-RAM early warning radar system. The group also claimed it destroyed a command and monitoring centre responsible for controlling unmanned guided boats.
The statement described the operation as ongoing, indicating that further military actions could follow. However, the IRGC did not provide independent evidence to support its claims.
Operation presented as response to US military actions
The announcement stated that the operation was conducted under the code phrase โYa Li Tharat al-Hussainโ and framed the strikes as retaliation against what the IRGC described as US aggression. The statement also included religious references and Quranic verses, portraying the operation as both a military and ideological campaign.
Meanwhile, there was no immediate confirmation from US military officials regarding the reported damage or the IRGCโs claims. Independent verification of the alleged strikes and their impact was not immediately available.
Regional tensions remain elevated
The latest announcement comes amid escalating military exchanges between Iran and the United States across the Gulf region, raising concerns over broader regional stability and the security of strategic military installations.
Defence analysts continue to monitor developments closely as both sides exchange claims and counterclaims while the wider conflict shows no signs of easing. Further official statements from US and Bahraini authorities are expected as the situation develops.
