New Entry Restrictions Announced
The Iraqi government has introduced stricter visa rules for Pakistani pilgrims ahead of major religious gatherings.
The new policy includes tighter entry requirements, shorter visa validity and stronger penalties for violations.
Authorities have urged pilgrims and tour operators to follow all rules carefully to avoid problems during travel.
Under the updated policy, any person travelling alone on a family visa will not be allowed to enter Iraq.
The Iraqi government has also banned the entry of unaccompanied male pilgrims under the age of 50.
Visa Validity Reduced to 30 Days
The new rules state that one visa cannot be used for both Ashura and Arbaeen pilgrimages.
Pilgrimage visas for Iraq will now remain valid for only 30 days.
Officials said pilgrims must plan their travel according to the approved visa period.
In case a visa application is rejected, or entry is denied at the airport, the visa fee will not be refunded.
The Iraqi government has also announced that passports of pilgrims arriving from Pakistan will remain in the custody of Iraqi immigration authorities after arrival.
Overstay May Lead to Lifetime Ban
Iraq has warned that overstaying a visa will result in strict action.
Penalties may include heavy fines, deportation and a lifetime ban from entering Iraq.
The new measures are expected to affect thousands of Pakistani pilgrims planning religious travel.
Tour operators have been advised to guide pilgrims properly before departure.
Authorities said full compliance with visa conditions is essential to avoid legal and travel complications.
The revised policy highlights Iraqโs effort to regulate pilgrim movement and maintain better control during high-attendance religious events.
