Israeli takeover of Gaza to set a dangerous precedent for other occupations: Erdogan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, following an official visit to Iraq, has cautioned that the Israeli takeover of Palestine’s Gaza could set a dangerous precedent for other occupations.

“Allowing Gaza to fall into the hands of Israeli settlers would only embolden Israel, making it more aggressive and reckless. This is unacceptable,” Erdogan told reporters on Tuesday upon his return.

He pledged to continue diplomatic efforts and use all available means, both domestically and internationally, to find a solution for the people of Gaza, emphasizing that it remains a top priority for Turkey.

In response to what he described as “spoiled and murderous” actions by Tel Aviv, Erdogan announced plans to engage with the United Nations Secretary-General’s Office and take collective action with them.

During Erdogan’s visit to Iraq, Gaza was a key topic of discussion in meetings with Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid and Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al Sudani.

The leaders discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations and explored opportunities for cooperation, especially in counter-terrorism, trade, transportation, energy, and addressing climate change.
