ISLAMABAD: Higher Education Commission has announced a nationwide talent hunt program aimed at identifying and nurturing young students with strong potential in science. The initiative seeks to promote academic excellence and prepare participants for global competition.
According to officials, the program will feature a series of science-based competitions conducted across the country. Through these contests, authorities will shortlist high-performing students for advanced training. Moreover, selected participants will receive fully funded preparation and the opportunity to represent Pakistan in international science Olympiads.
In addition, the program introduces significant academic incentives. Top-performing students will gain admission without entrance tests to leading institutions, including Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences and Institute of Space Technology. This step aims to streamline access to quality higher education for talented individuals.
Furthermore, selected candidates may receive up to 100 percent fee waivers, along with monthly stipends to support their studies. Authorities have also announced cash rewards exceeding Rs. 500,000 for outstanding achievers, encouraging broader participation.
Meanwhile, education experts view the initiative as a strategic move to strengthen the countryโs scientific base. They believe such programs can help bridge gaps in research and innovation by investing in young talent early.
Interested students can apply for the program until May 30, 2026. Consequently, officials have urged schools and parents to encourage participation to maximize outreach.
Overall, the initiative reflects a renewed focus on fostering scientific skills and creating future leaders in technology and research.
