New Digital Platform Aims to Strengthen Academic Collaboration
The Higher Education Commission has launched the Global Scholars Network to connect overseas Pakistani academics, researchers, professionals, and international experts with universities in Pakistan.
The new platform has been developed through the National Academy of Higher Education.
It is designed to create a central digital system for academic cooperation between global experts and local higher education institutions.
Through this platform, overseas scholars will be able to support universities in several key areas.
These include PhD supervision, joint research, guest lectures, workshops, faculty training, curriculum development, innovation projects, and industry-academia partnerships.
HEC said the initiative will help Pakistani universities benefit from global knowledge and professional experience.
Verified Expert Profiles Available for Universities
Under the Global Scholars Network, experts will be able to create detailed professional profiles.
These profiles will include their qualifications, research interests, publications, work experience, specializations, and academic achievements.
After verification and approval, the profiles will become available to universities across Pakistan.
Universities will then be able to search for suitable experts by discipline, specialization, country, experience, and field of expertise.
The platform will also allow institutions to send collaboration requests, manage academic engagements, and track outcomes through one integrated system.
HEC said the new mechanism will replace scattered and manual processes with a transparent national-level digital platform.
HEC Says Platform Will Support Higher Education Reform
HEC Chairman Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad Akhtar said the initiative is an important step toward internationalizing Pakistanโs higher education sector.
He said the platform will help local universities improve academic quality, expand research links, and build stronger global partnerships.
NAHE Managing Director Dr Noor Amna Malik said the system has been developed with scalability, security, and transparency in mind.
She added that the platform will provide HEC with dashboards and analytics. These tools will help monitor engagement, assess impact, and support evidence-based policymaking.
HEC also acknowledged the technical support of the Institute of Space Technology in developing the platform.
The commission recognized the role of IST Vice Chancellor Maj Gen Dr Syed Najeeb Ahmad Retd and the development team led by Director Information Technology Rizwan Majeed.
The Global Scholars Network is expected to create new opportunities for universities, researchers, faculty members, and students across Pakistan.
