Two alleged Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay clips have surfaced online, potentially revealing major new gameplay systems ahead of Rockstar Games’ official presentation.
The footage began circulating on August 18 and was reportedly published by a person or group using the name Cyberleek. It appears to show protagonist Jason Duval during ordinary open-world gameplay, including basketball, driving, combat and a police pursuit.
Images claiming to show a larger map of Leonida have also circulated alongside the videos.
Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two Interactive have not officially confirmed the authenticity of the leaked gameplay or map. Reports, however, say copyright takedown notices have been issued against accounts sharing the footage.
That does not confirm that every mechanic shown will appear in the final game. The footage may come from an older development build, meaning features could have been changed or removed.
Here are 15 of the biggest details emerging from the alleged GTA 6 gameplay leak.
Six-Star Wanted Level, Smarter Police and Expanded Stealth
1. Jason Duval Appears in Both Leaked Clips
Both alleged gameplay videos focus on Jason Duval, one of GTA 6’s two main protagonists alongside Lucia Caminos.
Rockstar has officially confirmed Jason and Lucia as the central characters in the game’s story.
One leaked sequence reportedly shows Jason playing basketball near his home.
Another shows him driving before colliding with a delivery vehicle. The situation develops into a confrontation, followed by police involvement.
2. Six-Star Wanted Level Could Be Returning
One of the most discussed details is an apparent six-star wanted system.
During the police encounter, two active wanted stars reportedly appear alongside four empty star positions.
That suggests GTA 6 could allow wanted levels to climb as high as six stars.
If the feature survives into the final game, it would represent a change from GTA 5’s five-star maximum.
3. Police May Remember What the Player Looks Like
The alleged interface appears to show police collecting information about Jason.
Reports examining the footage suggest law enforcement may track details such as the player’s appearance, clothing, vehicle and approximate location.
That could make escaping police more complicated than simply driving outside a search area.
4. Changing Clothes Could Help Players Escape
If police identification is genuinely part of the new system, changing clothes could potentially become an important escape mechanic.
Players may need to alter their appearance after committing crimes to reduce the chance of being recognised.
However, Rockstar has not confirmed how identification or disguises will work.
5. Switching Vehicles Could Become More Important
The leaked interface also suggests police may identify the vehicle being used during an offence.
This could encourage players to abandon a known vehicle and steal or switch to another one while escaping.
It would make police pursuits more tactical if implemented in the final game.
6. GTA 6 Could Feature a Detection Meter
Another apparent interface element resembles a stealth or police detection indicator.
It seemingly changes as officers approach Jason, potentially showing how close the player is to being discovered.
This suggests players may sometimes be able to hide from police rather than relying entirely on high-speed escapes.
Fuel, Vehicle Storage and New Character Systems
7. Cars May Have a Fuel System
One of the biggest surprises is an apparent fuel indicator for vehicles.
The interface reportedly displays fuel information alongside vehicle condition.
If genuine and included in the final release, vehicles could potentially run out of fuel.
Fuel management has appeared extensively in GTA 5 modifications but has not traditionally been a major mechanic in the main series.
Rockstar has not confirmed whether players will actually need to refuel vehicles.
8. Engine Condition Could Be Displayed Separately
The leaked interface also appears to show information about the vehicle’s mechanical or engine condition.
This could provide players with a clearer indication of how close a damaged vehicle is to breaking down.
Such a system could make vehicle damage more detailed than in previous GTA games.
9. Vehicles May Have Storage Compartments
Prompts reportedly appear for storage and loadout options when Jason approaches his vehicle.
Some reports suggest the leaked interface displays multiple storage slots.
That raises the possibility that players could store weapons, equipment or other items inside personal vehicles.
A vehicle inventory system would also fit with Rockstar’s more detailed gameplay systems seen in Red Dead Redemption 2.
10. Stamina Appears to Matter During Combat
The footage reportedly includes a stamina or energy bar that decreases while Jason performs physical actions.
Repeated attacks appear to reduce the meter.
This could prevent players from continuously sprinting or attacking without consequences.
It may also make melee combat more tactical.
11. A Possible Morality or Reputation Indicator Appears
An unusual icon reportedly appears after violent actions.
Some observers have interpreted it as a possible morality, reputation or karma system similar to Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption games.
There is currently not enough evidence to determine exactly what the symbol represents.
Rockstar has not announced any morality system for GTA 6.
Basketball, Character Progression and Leonida Map Details
12. Basketball Appears to Be Playable
The second major leaked feature is playable basketball.
One clip reportedly shows Jason attempting shots using a timing-based mechanic.
Players appear to press a button when two indicators align to improve their chances of successfully making the basket.
The sequence suggests GTA 6 could include considerably more interactive recreational activities throughout Leonida.
13. Basketball May Improve a ‘Focus’ Stat
Successfully completing basketball shots reportedly increases a statistic called Focus.
Exactly what Focus controls is unknown.
It could potentially influence shooting, concentration, special abilities or another character attribute.
Rockstar has not officially explained such a statistic, so its purpose remains speculative.
14. Jason and Lucia Could Both Remain Active on the Map
Images associated with the leak reportedly show a vehicle icon marked with the letter J while Lucia is believed to be the controlled character.
If genuine, this could indicate that GTA 6 tracks Jason’s location even while the player controls Lucia.
That would suggest both protagonists continue moving through the game world independently rather than disappearing when players switch characters.
Rockstar has officially confirmed that both Jason and Lucia are central to the story, but it has not explained how character switching will operate.
15. Alleged Leonida Map Shows More Locations
A purported full map has also appeared online.
The low-quality image reportedly divides Leonida into several areas and appears to contain racetracks, southern coastal regions and other major locations.
However, the map is among the least certain parts of the leak.
Some observers believe it could contain placeholder information or come from an older development version.
Rockstar has officially confirmed that GTA 6 takes place across the fictional state of Leonida, including Vice City, the Leonida Keys and other regions.
Rockstar Will Reveal More GTA 6 Gameplay on August 27
Players will not have to rely on unofficial leaks for much longer.
Rockstar has officially scheduled Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look for August 27 at 3pm ET.
The presentation will premiere first on Netflix and will also be released through Rockstar’s official channels.
The event is expected to provide a much deeper official look at GTA 6, potentially clarifying whether some of the systems seen in the leaked material actually remain in the finished game.
GTA 6 is officially scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Until Rockstar confirms the leaked features itself, the alleged six-star wanted level, fuel management, vehicle storage, Focus statistic and other mechanics should all be treated as unverified development material rather than confirmed GTA 6 features.
