The federal government has launched a countrywide crackdown against illegal call centres linked to alleged crimes. Authorities will target centres accused of blackmail, gambling, online scams, and immoral content. Officials acted after Operation Grey reportedly failed to curb illegal operations. The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency previously led that operation.
New Task Force Coordinates Nationwide Operation
The government has formed a task force under Federal Investigation Agency headquarters. The team includes officers from sensitive agencies, the FIA Cyber Crime Wing, and National Forensics Agency.
Federal police and district administration officials will support operations across the country. Furthermore, authorities directed relevant institutions to provide cooperation during enforcement actions. The task force will submit daily reports to the Ministry of Interior. Meanwhile, sources said authorities prepared a list of call centres operating in Karachi.
Islamabad Arrests Highlight Scale Of Alleged Operations
The crackdown follows a joint FIA and NCCIA operation in Islamabad. Authorities arrested 275 foreign nationals from an alleged illegal call centre in Sector IT-13.
According to the FIA, suspects came from several countries, including China. Investigators alleged that management produced immoral content using recruited foreign men and women. Meanwhile, the NCCIA initiated proceedings under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act.
Earlier Detainees Face Deportation From Pakistan
Authorities recently decided to move 284 foreign nationals to Adiala Jail for deportation. Officials cancelled their visas and issued special exit permits before their expected removal.
Most detainees reportedly came from Vietnam, Indonesia, and China. Many had entered Pakistan using tourist or visit visas. The government expects deportations within 15 days.
The measures indicate a broader effort to target foreign-linked fraud networks and illegal call centres.
