Italian police have arrested two Pakistani nationals for the murder of four Pakistani farm workers in southern Italy, according to Corriere della Sera.
Authorities found the victims inside a burnt-out minivan at a petrol station near the village of Amendolara, located in a major farming area of the Calabria.
Investigators said CCTV cameras captured the attack. The footage showed two individuals blocking the vanโs doors from the outside. The suspects then poured a liquid into the vehicle and set it on fire. Soon after, the fire spread rapidly and the suspects fled the scene.
Firefighters later arrived at the petrol station and extinguished the blaze. They discovered the bodies of the four workers inside the minivan.
Local police chief Antonio Borelli said investigators were certain the incident was a murder. He stated that authorities were now working to establish the full sequence of events and motives behind the crime.
Police are also examining a broader pattern of violence in the area. The report said at least 14 arson attacks have targeted cars and minivans used by Pakistani migrants in recent months.
Officials believe tensions among migrant workers may have played a role. These disputes reportedly involve access to farm work, residency papers, and housing.
Authorities have stepped up security measures in the region. Investigators continue to look for any additional suspects and possible links to earlier attacks.
