A massive fire erupted at a shopping mall in Swabi on Tuesday morning, triggering a large-scale emergency response from local authorities. Soon after receiving the emergency information, firefighters belonging to Rescue 1122 and the Tehsil Municipal Administration rushed to the spot to douse the roaring flames.
Six firefighting vehicles actively worked to control the situation. Specifically, four vehicles belonging to Rescue 1122 and two from the TMA busy extinguishing the blaze till the latest reports arrived. However, officials could not ascertain the exact cause of the fire during the initial response phase. Fortunately, emergency workers reported no loss of human life in the shopping complex incident.
Meanwhile, this disaster follows a similar emergency in the region. Just five days ago, the media reported that authorities constituted an eight-member committee to inquire into a massive fire incident at the H-9 Sunday Bazaar. That previous blaze broke out in Block C of the bazaar on a Tuesday night, quickly engulfing a large number of commercial stalls.
The Sunday Bazaar fire spread rapidly, prompting an immediate mobilization of emergency services. While that incident fortunately caused no injuries or loss of life, the flames gutted hundreds of stalls. Consequently, the traders lost vast amounts of merchandise stored inside the facility. Therefore, the Swabi mall fire marks the second major commercial property fire to hit the area within a week. Local safety teams intend to launch an investigation into the shopping mall’s electrical and safety infrastructure as soon as they completely cool the building.
