The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Lahore has arrested a man accused of impersonating government institutions and senior officials.
Investigators allege that the suspect used fake identities and documents to influence officials and collect money through fraudulent promises.
The suspect, identified as Faiz Ali Syed, was arrested on the special directions of NCCIA Punjab Director Muhammad Ali Wasim.
According to investigators, Syed allegedly approached government officials and private individuals while claiming to represent prominent state institutions.
He allegedly promised to arrange government-related work and facilitate appointments in public departments in exchange for money.
Suspect Allegedly Used Fake Government Identities
According to FIR No. 171/2026, Syed allegedly contacted officers through several WhatsApp numbers.
Investigators said he presented himself as a representative of important government institutions during these communications.
He allegedly used fake documents to strengthen his claims and create an impression of official authority.
Investigators also found a private vehicle carrying a fake green registration plate.
The plate allegedly helped create the appearance that the vehicle belonged to an official or government representative.
A man dressed in a police uniform was also allegedly kept with Syed.
Investigators believe this further reinforced the impression of influence and official status.
Three Mobile Phones Recovered
NCCIA officials recovered three mobile phones from the suspect during the investigation.
A preliminary examination reportedly revealed WhatsApp conversations and official-looking correspondence.
Investigators also found evidence of financial transactions allegedly connected to the suspected fraud.
One of the WhatsApp accounts was reportedly labelled โApex Courtโ.
The conversations allegedly showed Syed presenting himself as a member of an important state institution.
However, investigators are continuing to examine the digital evidence to establish the full scope of the alleged activities.
Fake Appointment Letters Also Found
Investigators also recovered several letters issued in the suspectโs name.
The letters allegedly contained claims concerning appointments to senior government positions.
Further examination of the recovered devices reportedly uncovered communications about financial transactions.
According to investigators, these communications suggest that Syed allegedly collected money from individuals.
The payments were reportedly made on promises of completing official work or securing favours through government departments.
These findings have become a key part of the ongoing investigation.
NCCIA Expands Investigation
The NCCIA is examining the case from several different angles.
These include electronic fraud, forgery and impersonation of government institutions.
The investigation also covers allegations of financial deception.
Investigators are conducting a detailed forensic examination of the recovered mobile phones.
They are also examining other evidence collected during the investigation.
The agency expects the forensic process to provide further information about the alleged network and activities.
What Happens Next?
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not yet concluded the case. The recovered digital evidence will undergo further forensic analysis.
Investigators will examine the communications, documents and financial records connected to the allegations.
The probe will also seek to establish whether other individuals were involved in the alleged fraud.
For now, the NCCIA is continuing its investigation into the alleged impersonation, forgery and financial deception.
Further findings are expected as investigators complete their examination of the available evidence.
