Game of Thrones
HBO’s highly anticipated Game of Thrones spinoff, “A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms,” has made significant strides in its development, with Owen Harris joining as one of the directors.
The adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s “The Hedge Knight” is set to feature six episodes, a departure from the longer seasons of its predecessors, “Game of Thrones” and “House of the Dragon,” according to Deadline.
Owen Harris, known for directing episodes of “Black Mirror,” is slated to helm three episodes of “A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms.” The series, starring Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell, is expected to debut in 2025.
Set a century before the events of “Game of Thrones,” the show follows the journey of two unlikely heroes, Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg, in Westeros.
Against the backdrop of the Targaryen dynasty’s rule, the duo encounters great destinies, formidable adversaries, and perilous exploits, as described in the official synopsis.
George R.R. Martin spearheads the series as the writer and executive producer, alongside Ira Parker, Ryan Condal, Vince Gerardis, Owen Harris, and Sarah Bradshaw.
Fans have eagerly awaited updates on the series since HBO’s announcement in April 2023, initially titled “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight” before being shortened to “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.”
The show promises to explore the realm 72 years after “House of the Dragon” and a century before the events of “Game of Thrones.”
However, progress on the series faced a setback in May 2023 due to a strike by thousands of film and television writers across Hollywood.
George R.R. Martin addressed the hiatus in a blog post, announcing the temporary closure of the writers’ room for “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” in solidarity with the strike.
