PM Shehbaz Sharif seeks more Qatari investment in Pakistan

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received a message from his Qatari counterpart, highlighting potential avenues for strengthening bilateral ties.

According to Qatari newswire QNA, “Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani has sent a written message to Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif, pertaining to bilateral relations and ways to support and develop them.”

The message was delivered to PM Sharif by the visiting Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, who was accompanied by a delegation from the Qatar Investment Authority.

PM Sharif expressed his government’s interest in seeing Qatar expand its investment portfolio in Pakistan’s priority sectors and offered facilitation through the Special Investment Facilitation Council.

Dr. Al-Khulaifi also met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. During their meeting, they reviewed Pakistan-Qatar bilateral relations and trade and investment ties, focusing particularly on cooperation in sectors such as energy, mining, and aviation, as per the Foreign Office.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar received the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi accompanied by senior delegates from the Qatar Investment Authority.

The two sides reviewed Pakistan-Qatar bilateral relations and trade and investment ties with particular focus on cooperation in sectors including energy, mining and aviation.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional and global developments especially the dire situation in Gaza. The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister admired Qatar’s active role as a mediator with regard to the Palestine Israel conflict and emphasized that peace in the region could only be ensured through the establishment of a viable, sovereign and contiguous State of Palestine on the basis of pre-1967 borders, with Al Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

The Minister of State conveyed message from the Prime Minister & Foreign Minister of the State of Qatar, His Highness Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, reiterating steadfast support for Pakistan.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister underscored the significance of economic diplomacy towards transforming bilateral ties into a mutually beneficial economic partnership.
