Actor Faysal Quraishi has issued an apology for inadvertently offending the legal community through his portrayal in the HUM TV drama “Zulm”.

The Karachi Bar Association expressed its discontent over the drama’s depiction of lawyers, particularly the derogatory language used by Quraishi’s character towards legal professionals.

In response to the association’s official statement condemning the drama and demanding apologies from both Quraishi and HUM TV owner Sultana Siddiqui, Quraishi acknowledged the impact of his character’s portrayal.

He admitted that certain lines uttered by his character may have crossed a line, causing unintended distress among viewers, particularly those within the legal fraternity.

Quraishi expressed gratitude towards lawyer Kaiser Khan Nizamani, who brought the issue to his attention, prompting him to address the matter.

He emphasized that as an actor, he merely delivers lines as scripted, but acknowledged that there were instances where personal reservations about certain dialogues were not adequately addressed during production.

Recognizing the ripple effect of his portrayal on societal perceptions, Quraishi extended his apology to anyone who may have been hurt or offended by the drama.

He emphasized his sensitivity to the feelings of others, highlighting his role as a member of the broader community.

The Karachi Bar Association underscored the detrimental impact of the drama’s portrayal of lawyers, asserting that it tarnished the reputation of the legal fraternity.

They demanded swift apologies from Quraishi, Siddiqui, and other individuals involved in the production of “Zulm”, warning of potential legal action if their demands were not met promptly.

In light of the association’s concerns and the broader public response, Quraishi’s apology serves as an acknowledgment of accountability and a step towards reconciliation with the legal community and viewers at large.
