The Capital Development Authority has completed the identification of illegal houses and structures along the stream in Saidpur Village. Officials finalised the survey ahead of a planned anti-encroachment operation. The move aims to restore the natural flow of the water channel before the monsoon season.
CDA enforcement teams marked illegal houses and other unauthorized structures during the survey. Additionally, officials issued public announcements directing occupants to vacate the premises immediately. The authority said the operation will proceed after the evacuation notices.
Illegal Constructions Blamed for Water Blockage
According to CDA officials, the anti-encroachment campaign began after last year’s monsoon season. They said illegal buildings had significantly narrowed the stream’s natural course. Consequently, rainwater could not flow properly during heavy downpours.
Officials added that several unauthorized structures were later rented to occupants. They claimed these constructions contributed to severe water accumulation in Saidpur Village. As a result, flooding reportedly damaged vehicles and nearby properties during previous monsoon rains.
CDA Plans Removal Before Monsoon Season
The authority said it will remove all encroachments along the stream before this year’s monsoon begins. Officials believe the operation will reduce flood risks and improve water drainage in the area. Therefore, enforcement teams are preparing for the next phase of the campaign.
The CDA reiterated that it will continue taking action against illegal constructions across Islamabad. Furthermore, officials warned that no unauthorized structures obstructing public land or waterways will be allowed to remain.
