Cunha Double and Vinicius Goal Seal Dominant Victory
Brazil strengthened their position in Group C with a commanding 3-0 victory over Haiti at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
The five-time world champions delivered an impressive performance to secure three valuable points and move closer to qualification for the World Cup knockout stage.
Manchester United forward Matheus Cunha was the star of the match, scoring twice to lead Brazil’s attack. Vinicius Junior also found the net and continued his strong form after scoring in Brazilโs previous match.
The victory lifted Brazil to the top of Group C on goal difference. They are level on four points with Morocco but hold the advantage due to a superior goal tally.
For Haiti, the defeat ended all hopes of reaching the last 32. The Caribbean nation became the first team officially eliminated from the tournament.
Ancelotti Praises Complete Team Performance
Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti described the display as one of his teamโs most complete performances of the tournament.
He said Brazil showed better quality, improved attacking efficiency, and stronger defensive control compared to their opening draw against Morocco.
The Italian coach also stressed that the team still has room for improvement before the knockout rounds begin.
However, Brazil’s victory was slightly overshadowed by concerns over winger Raphinha. The Barcelona star left the field before halftime after an awkward challenge and will now be assessed by medical staff.
Ancelotti offered positive news regarding Neymar. The veteran forward is expected to return for Brazilโs final group match against Scotland after recovering from injury.
Haiti Exit but Earn Respect on World Stage
Haiti coach Sebastien Migne admitted there was great disappointment after the defeat.
The Caribbean nation is competing at its first World Cup in more than five decades. Despite back-to-back losses, Migne praised his players for their effort and determination.
He said Haiti had fulfilled an important mission by returning to footballโs biggest stage and competing against some of the worldโs strongest teams.
Migne added that the experience gained during the tournament would help his young squad develop for future international competitions.
Brazil will now focus on their final group match against Scotland. A victory could secure first place and potentially provide a more favourable route through the knockout rounds.
