Iran Urges Implementation of Agreement and Regional Stability
TEHRAN: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi held separate telephone conversations with his counterparts from Iraq, Egypt and Saudi Arabia on Monday following the announcement of a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States aimed at ending months of conflict and opening a new diplomatic phase.
During the discussions, Araqchi stressed that Washington bears responsibility for implementing the commitments outlined in the agreement, which was reportedly reached through Pakistani mediation. He also reiterated Iranโs call for an immediate halt to Israeli military operations in Lebanon, describing regional stability as a key priority in the post-conflict environment.
The diplomatic outreach came shortly after announcements regarding the understanding between Tehran and Washington, which has drawn significant attention across the Middle East and beyond.
Regional Leaders Discuss Security and Cooperation
Araqchi exchanged views with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati, and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan. The ministers discussed recent developments and emphasized the importance of maintaining dialogue to prevent further escalation across the region.
According to Iranian officials, the talks focused on strengthening diplomatic engagement, promoting regional cooperation and supporting efforts aimed at long-term peace and security.
The conversations also reflected growing regional interest in the implementation of the agreement and its potential impact on ongoing conflicts and geopolitical tensions.
Focus Shifts Toward Next Phase of Negotiations
Meanwhile, attention is increasingly turning toward the practical implementation of the understanding reached between Tehran and Washington. Officials have indicated that continued diplomacy will play a central role in ensuring progress during the coming weeks.
On Sunday, US President Donald Trump announced that a peace agreement with Iran had been finalized. According to his statement, the framework includes a cessation of hostilities across multiple fronts, including Lebanon, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and the end of the US naval blockade imposed on Iran.
As diplomatic consultations continue, regional governments are closely monitoring developments and assessing the broader implications for security, trade and political stability throughout the Middle East.
