Authorities Expand Crackdown Following Ban on Organisation
The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has intensified its actions against leaders of the banned Jammu Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee, announcing cash rewards of Rs10 million each for information leading to the arrest of four wanted individuals.
According to a notification issued by the AJK Home Department, the rewards were approved by the prime minister and home minister of the region. The announcement names Shaukat Nawaz Mir, Omar Nazir Kashmiri, Khawaja Mehran, and Sardar Aman as individuals wanted by law enforcement agencies.
Authorities appealed to the public to assist in locating and apprehending the suspects. Furthermore, the Home Department assured citizens that the identities of anyone providing information would remain strictly confidential throughout the process.
Government Reaffirms Zero-Tolerance Policy on Unrest
The announcement comes amid an ongoing effort by authorities to maintain law and order following recent unrest in parts of Azad Kashmir. Officials stated that enhanced security measures have been implemented across the region to prevent any activities deemed unlawful.
Meanwhile, the government reiterated its commitment to enforcing a zero-tolerance policy against banned organisations and actions considered detrimental to public peace and stability. Officials stressed that law enforcement agencies would continue operations aimed at preserving order and preventing disruptions.
“The rule of law will be ensured at all costs,” the Home Department stated, adding that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found involved in incitement, disorder, or activities that threaten public security.
In addition, authorities urged residents to cooperate with security agencies by reporting information that could assist in the arrest of the wanted individuals. Officials emphasized that public cooperation remains essential in supporting efforts to uphold peace and stability throughout the region.
The government also noted that the allegations against the named individuals remain subject to ongoing investigations and legal proceedings under the applicable laws of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
