The National Cybercrime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) raided an alleged illegal call centre in Rawalpindi on Monday.
The operation took place in a commercial market in Satellite Town, where authorities arrested 61 employees. During the raid, officials also seized 71 mobile phones and 155 laptops.
The agency subsequently registered a case against those arrested and launched an investigation into the alleged activities.
NCCIA Raids Call Centre in Satellite Town
The NCCIA carried out the operation at a call centre located in Rawalpindi’s Satellite Town area.
According to the allegations, the people working there were involved in a foreign loan recovery scheme. They were also accused of extorting money from people through intimidation.
The agency took action after identifying the call centre as an alleged hub for these activities. Consequently, 61 employees were arrested during the operation.
Officials also took a large number of electronic devices into custody. These included 71 mobile phones and 155 laptops.
Investigation Begins After 61 Arrests
Following the raid, the NCCIA registered a case against the arrested individuals. The agency has now launched an investigation into the allegations.
