The planned September 27 protest in Islamabad has triggered fresh warnings from the government and renewed resolve from PTI leaders.
State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry said peaceful protesters could enter Islamabad, but unlawful actions would not be tolerated.
Meanwhile, PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Junaid Akbar said party workers would reach the federal capital through multiple routes.
The contrasting statements come ahead of the PTI’s planned march towards Islamabad on September 27.
Talal Chaudhry Warns Against Unlawful Actions
Talal Chaudhry warned that people who resort to “terrorism” during the planned protest would not be allowed to return.
“If you are a peaceful citizen, come to Islamabad from any route, come 100 times,” Chaudhry said.
However, he warned that those who came “as terrorists” would not be allowed to return.
The minister said the government would fully implement the Islamabad High Court’s orders.
He further said authorities would not tolerate unlawful activity during the planned protest.
“No illegal action will be tolerated,” he said, adding that activities threatening life and property would not be allowed.
The Islamabad High Court has ruled that political parties cannot lawfully block roads or obstruct citizens’ movement in the federal capital.
Talal Criticises PTI’s Position on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
During his remarks, Talal Chaudhry also criticised the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said those planning the Islamabad protest had failed to stop terrorism in the province.
He also questioned the provision of adequate health and education facilities in the province.
“They say they will turn Islamabad into ruins. We know they have turned KP into ruins,” he said.
“We will not allow this kind of thinking to move forward,” Chaudhry added.
He further said PTI leadership had revealed what he described as its “real plan”.
Junaid Akbar Vows to Reach Islamabad
Meanwhile, Junaid Akbar addressed a workers’ convention in Mardan and outlined the planned routes towards Islamabad.
He said PTI workers would march towards the federal capital through multiple routes.
“We will go to Islamabad, and not through just one route,” Junaid said.
He added that party workers would use the motorway and GT Road to reach the capital.
“We will also descend from the Margalla Hills and come from Dera Ismail Khan,” he said.
Junaid’s remarks came as the party continues preparations for the September 27 protest.
PTI Leader Recalls Previous Protest
Junaid Akbar also referred to PTI’s previous protest while addressing party workers.
He said workers had returned with the bodies of their colleagues after the previous demonstration.
“Last time, we brought our dead bodies with us,” he said.
He added that the party had not been in a position to protest at that time.
“This time, it will not happen that we bury our dead and remain silent,” Junaid said.
He also said PTI would turn Islamabad into “ruins”.
September 27 Protest Remains in Focus
The statements from both sides highlight the differing positions ahead of the September 27 mobilisation.
The government has stressed compliance with the Islamabad High Court’s orders and opposition to unlawful activity.
Meanwhile, PTI leaders have continued to say that their workers will travel towards Islamabad through multiple routes.
With the protest date approaching, security arrangements and the planned movement of protesters remain key issues surrounding the demonstration.
The government and PTI leadership have therefore presented sharply different positions about how the September 27 protest should proceed. Talal Chaudhry has stressed the enforcement of court orders, while Junaid Akbar has reiterated PTI’s intention to reach Islamabad through several routes.
