The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) launched a month-long enforcement campaign that resulted in action against more than 66,000 traffic violators across the federal capital. The operation also led to the impounding of nearly 10,000 vehicles and the registration of hundreds of First Information Reports (FIRs).
The campaign formed part of a broader effort to improve road discipline, reduce reckless driving, and ensure safer roads for commuters.
Month-Long Enforcement Drive Across Islamabad
The special crackdown was launched on the directions of Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.
Throughout the operation, traffic police monitored roads across the city and took legal action against motorists involved in various traffic violations.
As a result, authorities issued traffic tickets to more than 66,000 violators.
Moreover, officials impounded 6,562 motorcycles and 3,285 vehicles during the campaign.
In addition, police registered 379 FIRs against motorists accused of committing serious traffic offences that endangered public safety.
Illegal Parking Tops the List of Violations
According to the Islamabad Traffic Police, illegal parking emerged as the most common traffic offence during the campaign.
Officials recorded 10,846 illegal parking violations across different parts of the capital.
Meanwhile, traffic police issued 7,625 tickets for lane violations.
Authorities also took action against 7,150 vehicles using nonstandard number plates.
These violations remained among the most frequently reported offences during the month-long operation.
Thousands More Penalized for Dangerous Driving
The enforcement drive also targeted several other traffic offences that affect road safety.
During the campaign, officials fined 5,105 overloaded vehicles for violating transport regulations.
Similarly, police took action against 4,392 motorists driving on the wrong side of the road.
Another 4,392 motorcyclists received fines for riding without helmets.
Furthermore, traffic officers penalized thousands of additional motorists for various traffic violations detected throughout the operation.
Campaign Focuses on Safer Roads
The Islamabad Traffic Police stated that the campaign aimed to strengthen traffic discipline across the city.
The operation also focused on discouraging illegal parking, reckless driving, and other dangerous practices that put road users at risk.
Authorities believe consistent enforcement can improve compliance with traffic laws and create a safer driving environment for everyone using Islamabad’s roads.
