A London court jailed three men over a jewellery theft targeting UAE royalty. The case involved ยฃ600,000 worth of stolen items taken near St Pancras station.
The victims included members of Abu Dhabiโs ruling family who arrived in London by Eurostar. They travelled as part of a high-profile visit to the United Kingdom. Additionally, authorities confirmed the jewellery belonged to three royal family members.
Investigators said suspects targeted the group shortly after their arrival. They used a distraction tactic outside the station to create confusion. Consequently, thieves stole three suitcases containing valuable jewellery before fleeing the scene.
Court Sentences Members Of Gang After Investigation Evidence
The court sentenced Abdel Aitkebir to two years and six months imprisonment. Meanwhile, Medhi Fatih received two years and three months in jail. Another defendant, Faysal Benoumechiara, received prison terms for separate theft offences.
Prosecutors said the gang sold stolen items for a fraction of their value. However, none of the jewellery was recovered after the sale. Authorities also presented WhatsApp messages showing intent to commit thefts in the UK.
CCTV Captures Suspects Near Station
Furthermore, CCTV footage captured suspects loitering near the station before the incident. Investigators argued they deliberately targeted wealthy passengers arriving on international trains. Therefore, the court found strong evidence of coordinated planning.
Officials stated the case highlighted organised theft operations targeting high-value travellers in central London. Additionally, police continue monitoring similar criminal networks operating in transport hubs.
