Six soldiers were martyred while security forces killed 17 terrorists during separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations took place between September 15 and 17, 2026. Ten terrorists were killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while seven others died in Balochistan.
Six Soldiers Martyred in North Waziristan IED Attack
ISPR said six soldiers died when an improvised explosive device (IED) struck a security forces convoy in North Waziristan on September 17.
Before the blast, security forces had conducted intelligence-based operations against suspected militants in the district.
During one operation, troops engaged a militant position after receiving information about the presence of terrorists. ISPR said six members of what it calls “Fitna al-Khwarij” were killed during an intense exchange of fire.
Another encounter took place in Hangu District. Security forces killed four more militants during the engagement.
The military said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the militants killed during the operations.
Sanitisation Operations Continue in KP
Following the engagements, security forces launched sanitisation operations in the surrounding areas.
ISPR said the operations aim to locate any remaining militants and prevent further attacks.
The military also linked the operations to its ongoing counterterrorism campaign under Azm-e-Istehkam.
According to ISPR, the campaign will continue alongside efforts by law-enforcement agencies to counter what it describes as foreign-sponsored terrorism.
The latest operations come amid continued militant violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Recent incidents have also targeted police and security personnel across the province.
Seven Terrorists Killed in Balochistan
Security forces also conducted two intelligence-based operations in Balochistan.
The first operation took place in the Fateh Ali area of Panjgur District. According to ISPR, troops killed five terrorists during the operation.
Another operation targeted a militant hideout in the Kachhi area. Security forces killed two more terrorists during the engagement.
The military also reported that several militants sustained injuries during the exchange of fire.
Security forces recovered a large quantity of weapons and ammunition from the hideout, according to the statement.
The military identified the Balochistan-based militants as members of what it calls “Fitna al-Hindustan.”
Counterterrorism Operations Continue
The latest operations add to a series of security actions across Balochistan in recent weeks.
Security forces and the Balochistan Counter-Terrorism Department have conducted several operations against militant groups. Earlier this week, nine terrorists were killed in separate operations in Mastung, Pishin and Qila Abdullah.
On September 17, security forces also killed three terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Awaran District. Authorities said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the militants.
Meanwhile, security forces continue operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following a series of attacks and militant engagements.
The latest casualties highlight the continuing risks faced by security personnel during counterterrorism operations in both provinces.
