ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security forces have foiled an infiltration attempt along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in North Waziristan, killing 15 militants, according to ISPR.
The military’s media wing said troops detected a group attempting to cross into Pakistan during the night of August 31 and September 1.
The militants reportedly belonged to the Indian-sponsored Fitna Al Khwarij group, according to the ISPR statement.
Security forces engaged the group after detecting its movement and conducted a precise operation that continued for 36 hours.
As a result, troops killed 15 militants during the engagement, while recovering a significant quantity of weapons and ammunition.
The military said the recovered equipment further exposed plans to disrupt peace and stability inside Pakistan.
ISPR Highlights Border Security Concerns
ISPR said the incident again supported Pakistan’s position regarding cross-border terrorism originating from Afghan territory.
The military accused the Afghan Taliban regime of failing to prevent terrorist groups from using its soil for attacks against Pakistan.
It also alleged that the Afghan authorities have failed to ensure effective border management and fulfill their international obligations.
Meanwhile, security forces launched a sanitization operation to locate and eliminate any remaining militants in the area.
The military said Pakistani forces remain committed to defending the country’s borders and protecting national security.
Counterterrorism Operation Continues
ISPR said Pakistan’s counterterrorism campaign would continue across the country with full momentum.
The campaign operates under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.
According to ISPR, the initiative aims to eliminate foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from Pakistan.
The latest operation highlights continued security challenges along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
The security officials are preventing militant infiltration and disrupting networks operating against Pakistan’s security and stability.
