LAHORE: Three female doctors, including an associate professor at Services Hospital Lahore, have been suspended as authorities investigate a high-profile criminal case involving allegations of sexual abuse, attempted abortion, destruction of evidence and the death of a domestic worker in Model Town.
According to official reports, the suspended doctors are Dr Amrah Sabaahat, Dr Ayesha Umar Khan and Associate Professor Dr Mansoora Mirza. All three have been relieved of their duties and directed to report to the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department pending further proceedings.
Investigators allege that the doctors may have played a role in medical procedures linked to an attempted termination of pregnancy and the alleged concealment of evidence. Authorities are examining their involvement as part of the ongoing inquiry.
The case emerged after a domestic worker accused her employerโs son, identified as Aun, and a driver, Hassan, of serious criminal misconduct. Following the allegations, Model Town police registered a case covering multiple offences, including rape, attempted abortion, destruction of evidence and murder.
Police officials said the investigation remains active and that future legal action will depend on forensic findings, witness statements and other evidence collected during the inquiry.
Earlier reports indicated that one of the doctors under investigation was associated with both Services Hospital and a private medical facility on Raiwind Road. According to police sources, the domestic worker allegedly underwent an abortion procedure at the private facility.
Investigators further stated that the doctor reportedly advised that the woman be shifted to Services Hospital after her condition deteriorated. However, despite medical intervention, the domestic worker later died.
Before her death, the woman allegedly recorded accusations against Hassan and Aun, claiming they had subjected her to sexual assault.
Police confirmed that Hassan is currently in judicial custody, while Aun has obtained bail. Authorities have filed charges relating to rape, abortion, destruction of evidence and murder.
Officials emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and that all allegations remain subject to judicial and legal determination. No final conclusions regarding the guilt or liability of any accused individuals have been reached by the courts.
