A video showing Suthra Punjab Authority (SPA) workers dancing to an Indian song has sparked debate on social media. The footage captures several workers enjoying a dance session at an apparently empty event venue. However, the incident has raised questions about their conduct and professionalism.
The workers appear to dance energetically to the Bollywood track “Speaker Baje” while someone operates the sound system. The gathering reportedly took place as they recorded a TikTok video instead of carrying out cleaning activities at the venue.
Suthra Punjab Workers’ Dance Video Goes Viral
The viral footage shows several Suthra Punjab workers dancing together inside what appears to be a marquee or event hall. Rather than performing cleaning duties, they joined the music and danced enthusiastically.
The sound system operator can also be seen playing the Indian song as the workers enjoy the moment. However, the exact location of the venue remains unknown.
A banner displayed on the stage suggests that the hall may have hosted a promotional event for Suthra Punjab. Nevertheless, the available footage does not establish when or where the recording took place.
The video has attracted attention across social media, with several users questioning whether the workers’ behaviour reflects the professionalism expected from a public sanitation workforce.
Suthra Punjab Faces Questions Over Performance
The incident comes as the Suthra Punjab initiative faces increased scrutiny over its cleanliness operations across the province.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz recently gave officials 15 days to achieve a 100% improvement in cleanliness standards across Punjab. She also issued several instructions to strengthen sanitation services.
These included daily washing of main roads and cleaning villages on alternate days. Additionally, she directed officials to ensure timely payment of sanitation workers’ salaries.
The latest video has therefore attracted attention at a time when authorities are under pressure to improve cleanliness services. However, the footage alone does not establish whether the workers neglected their assigned duties or recorded the video during working hours.
Corruption Inquiry Adds to Suthra Punjab’s Challenges
Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Establishment has launched an inquiry into alleged financial irregularities involving Suthra Punjab in Faisalabad.
The investigation concerns suspected irregularities in fuel expenses and vehicle rental arrangements. Reports estimate the alleged financial discrepancies at nearly Rs. 17.5 million per month.
The inquiry has added another layer of scrutiny to the sanitation initiative, particularly as officials face demands for improved service delivery.
With the viral dance video attracting public criticism and an investigation examining financial matters, Suthra Punjab faces questions over both its workforce conduct and operational management.
