Pakistan Women’s Blind Cricket Team Clinches Victory Over Australia in Historic 1st T20I

SYDNEY: Pakistan Women’s Blind Cricket Team made a powerful statement on their international debut, defeating Australia in the first T20 match of a landmark series. Played as part of a historic tour from April 18 to 26, the match marks a significant milestone for blind women’s cricket in Pakistan.

Batting first, the Australian team posted a competitive total of 158 runs for 4 wickets in their 20 overs. Pakistan, undeterred by the challenge, chased down the target with poise and precision, sealing the win in 19.2 overs.

Mehreen Ali starred with the bat, scoring a brilliant 44, while Nisha Butt added a crucial 36 to keep the chase on course and deliver a memorable victory.

The second T20 is scheduled for tomorrow, with the Pakistani side riding high on momentum and national pride.

A Historic Beginning

Before departing for Australia, the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) hosted an emotional farewell ceremony in Islamabad. Attended by officials, supporters, and families, the event celebrated the team’s pioneering journey.

PBCC Chairman called the occasion a landmark moment for the sport, stating,

“This tour reflects the resilience, talent, and determination of our women’s blind cricket team. Their participation on the international stage is a testament to our commitment to inclusivity in sports.”

He commended the players’ dedication, adding:

“These athletes have overcome immense challenges with grace. I’m confident they will make Pakistan proud and inspire many more.”

This historic tour is more than just a series—it’s a powerful symbol of empowerment and progress for visually impaired women athletes in Pakistan. The team’s performance is being followed with admiration across the country, as they continue to break barriers and redefine what’s possible in the world of blind cricket.
