No woman made the list of the world’s 100 highest-paid athletes in 2024, according to rankings released Wednesday by Sportico.
U.S. tennis star Coco Gauff was the highest-earning female athlete last year, bringing in $30.4 million. However, her earnings fell over $7 million short of the $37.5 million minimum required to crack the top 100.
Soccer legend Cristiano Ronaldo topped the list for the second consecutive year, amassing $260 million in earnings, including $215 million from his Saudi Pro League club, Al Nassr, and $45 million in off-field endorsements. Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry claimed the second spot with $153.8 million, followed by boxer Tyson Fury ($147 million), Inter Miami soccer icon Lionel Messi ($135 million), and Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James ($133.2 million).
The exclusive $100 million club also featured notable names like boxer Oleksandr Usyk, soccer stars Neymar, Karim Benzema, and Kylian Mbappé, golfers Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler, and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
NFL quarterback Daniel Jones, who played for the New York Giants before signing with the Minnesota Vikings last season, just made the cutoff at No. 100 with $37.5 million in earnings.
In total, the top 100 athletes collectively earned $6.2 billion in 2024, marking a 14% increase from the previous year. The list featured athletes from eight different sports and 27 countries, showcasing the global nature of sports’ top earners.
