David Warner, the former Australian opener, has been appointed as the captain of Karachi Kings for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10. The franchise confirmed his appointment ahead of the highly anticipated tournament, marking a significant addition to their leadership group.
A World Cup winner in both the ODI and T20 formats, Warner is widely regarded as one of the most dangerous T20 openers in modern cricket. Over the past decade, he has led multiple teams, including various franchises in the Big Bash League (BBL), showcasing his vast experience and strategic acumen in the shortest format of the game.
Following the announcement, Warner expressed his excitement about joining Karachi Kings by commenting on the team’s social media post, stating, “Looking forward to seeing everyone.” His addition brings an exciting dynamic to the squad as they aim to compete for the PSL 10 title.
Karachi Kings secured Warner as their first pick in the Platinum category during the PSL 10 Players Draft, which took place on January 13, 2025, at the historic Hazoori Bagh in Lahore. His inclusion is expected to strengthen the team’s batting lineup and provide valuable leadership on and off the field.
The Karachi Kings management extended their gratitude to last season’s captain, Shan Masood, for his contributions in leading the team. Under Masood’s leadership in PSL 9, the team developed a strong balance between experienced players and emerging talent.
His tactical approach and professionalism were widely appreciated, and the franchise acknowledged his role in shaping the team’s competitive structure.
Karachi Kings owner Salman Iqbal welcomed Warner to the team, highlighting his leadership qualities and ability to perform under pressure. The 10th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League is set to commence on Friday, April 11, 2025, with defending champions Islamabad United facing two-time winners Lahore Qalandars at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Karachi Kings will begin their campaign on Saturday, April 12, with a match against Multan Sultans at National Bank Stadium.
The squad for Karachi Kings in PSL 10 includes David Warner as captain, alongside Abbas Afridi and Adam Milne in the Platinum category. The Diamond category players include James Vince, Hasan Ali, and Khushdil Shah, while Shan Masood, Muhammad Irfan Khan, and Aamir Jamal have been selected in the Gold category.
Arafat Minhas has been designated as the team’s brand ambassador. The Silver category features Tim Seifert, Zahid Mahmood, Litton Das, and Mir Hamza. Emerging players Fawad Ali and Riazullah, along with supplementary picks Omair Bin Yousuf, Kane Williamson, Mohammad Nabi, and Mirza Mamoon, complete the squad.
With an experienced leader at the helm and a well-balanced squad, Karachi Kings are gearing up for an exciting PSL 10 season, aiming to put forward a strong title challenge.
