In November, Australia will host Pakistan for a cricket series featuring 3 One-Day Internationals and T20 matches

The Australian cricket authorities have announced that the Pakistan national cricket team will be touring Australia to participate in a white-ball series in November of this year. This information is part of the Cricket Australia’s international schedule release for the 2024-25 season.

In a recent announcement, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed that the upcoming tour, set to initiate Australia’s white-ball series for the 2024-25 summer season, will consist of a total of six games.

The statement mentioned that a series consisting of three one-day internationals and an equal number of T20Is will take place at six venues between November 4th and 18th. The PCB announced that Pakistan will be visiting Australia again after a year-long absence, following their participation in the Benaud-Qadir Trophy, which involved three Test matches held in Perth, Sydney, and Melbourne from December 2023 to January 2024.

The cricket board added that the ODI series commences at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on November 4, followed by matches in Adelaide on the 8th and Perth on the 10th. Notably, Pakistan’s last ODI series on Australian soil took place in 2016, with the host nation emerging victorious, as mentioned by the PCB.

Following this, Pakistan and Australia will compete in three T20I matches. Pakistan’s previous T20I experience on Australian soil took place in 2022, where they reached the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

“The cricket series will commence at The Gabba in Brisbane. Subsequently, the matches will proceed to the Sydney Cricket Ground, which was the site of Pakistan’s triumph over New Zealand during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup semi-final. The tour will conclude in Hobart, with the final T20I scheduled for November 18th, as announced by the PCB.”

Australia-India Test series

Simultaneously, CA declared that Perth will be the venue for the inaugural match of an exciting five-Test series against India, commencing on November 22nd. Following this, the series will proceed to Adelaide for a day-night Test and subsequently, Brisbane’s Gabba, which historically has been the traditional opening site for Australia’s Test summer.

The Melbourne Cricket Ground is set to host the Boxing Day Test, while the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series will conclude at the Sydney Cricket Ground, commencing on January 3. CA CEO Nick Hockley described this season as “one of the most eagerly awaited cricket summers in memory.”

Appropriately, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been equated to the men’s Ashes by introducing a five-Test series, a first since the 1991-92 season, as per the statement.

Since 2014-2015, Australia has not managed to defeat India in a home cricket series. Nevertheless, the hosts have emerged victorious in all four prior Tests held at Perth Stadium.

Hockley stated, “We are certain that the schedule will optimize viewership and attendance, resulting in a fantastic atmosphere in stadiums nationwide.”
