The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the resignation of its Chief Executive, Geoff Allardice, marking the end of his 13-year tenure with the organization.
Allardice, who previously served as cricket operations manager for Cricket Australia, joined the ICC in 2012 as General Manager of Cricket. After serving as Acting CEO for eight months, he was officially appointed to the role in November 2021.
In a statement, ICC Chair Jay Shah expressed gratitude for Allardice’s contributions: “On behalf of the ICC Board, I want to sincerely thank Geoff for his leadership and dedication during his tenure. His efforts have significantly advanced cricket’s global presence. We are deeply appreciative of his service and wish him success in his future endeavors.”
Reflecting on his time at the ICC, Allardice shared: “It has been an honor to serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the International Cricket Council. I am incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made, from expanding cricket’s global reach to strengthening the commercial foundation for ICC Members.
“I’d like to thank the ICC Chair, the board of directors, and the entire cricketing community for their support and collaboration over the past 13 years. This is the right time for me to step down and pursue new challenges. I am confident cricket has a bright future, and I wish the ICC and the global cricket community continued success.”
The ICC board will now initiate the search for a new Chief Executive to lead the organization forward.
