Samsung has quietly launched the Galaxy A18 4G in several European markets, including France, Norway and Sweden. The new budget smartphone brings an Exynos chipset, stronger protection against dust and water, and extended software support.
However, much of its hardware remains similar to the Galaxy A17 4G.
Galaxy A18 4G Gets 90Hz AMOLED Display
The Galaxy A18 4G features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080 × 2340-pixel resolution.
The screen supports a 90Hz refresh rate and uses Gorilla Glass 3 for protection.
Samsung has also upgraded the phone’s durability with an IP64 rating.
This provides dust-tight protection and improved resistance to water splashes compared with the Galaxy A17’s IP54 rating.
The phone measures 7.7mm thick and weighs 196g. It comes in Gray, Light Blue and Black.
New Exynos 1610 Chipset
The biggest hardware change comes inside the Galaxy A18 4G.
Samsung has replaced the MediaTek Helio G99 with its new Exynos 1610 chipset.
Samsung has not yet disclosed detailed information about the processor’s architecture.
The chipset features an octa-core CPU with speeds reaching 2.4GHz and 2.0GHz.
The phone runs Android 17 with One UI 9 from launch.
Samsung promises six years of operating system updates. Security updates will continue until October 2032.
In France, Samsung offers 4GB RAM with 128GB storage. Other European markets also get a 256GB option.
A hybrid microSD slot supports additional storage of up to 2TB.
Triple Camera Setup
The Galaxy A18 4G features three cameras on the rear panel.
The primary camera uses a 50MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and autofocus.
It is paired with a 5MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro sensor.
The main camera does not support optical image stabilisation.
Video recording reaches 1080p at 30 frames per second.
For selfies, the phone has a 13MP front camera with an f/2.0 aperture.
5,000mAh Battery and 25W Charging
Samsung has equipped the Galaxy A18 4G with a 5,000mAh battery.
The battery is rated for at least 1,200 charging cycles.
The phone supports 25W wired charging. Samsung says it can reach 50% charge in around 30 minutes.
The device also includes a fingerprint sensor and supports 2G, 3G and 4G LTE networks.
Galaxy A18 4G European Prices
The Galaxy A18 4G starts at around $323 in France for the 4GB + 128GB version.
Deliveries in France are scheduled to begin on September 18.
In Norway, the 128GB model costs around $353, while the 256GB version costs approximately $556.
In Sweden, the 128GB variant costs around $337. The 256GB model is priced at approximately $531.
For comparison, the Galaxy A17 4G launched last year at around $231 based on its €200 launch price.
The Galaxy A18 4G therefore brings several upgrades while retaining much of the previous model’s hardware.
Its new chipset, improved protection and longer software support could make it a notable option in Samsung’s budget lineup.
