50% of the Pakistani dramas are focused around divorce, a submissive protagonist not defending herself and the remaining 50% is now about women going after married men or having multiple affairs. However, there are some exceptional dramas such as Bandhi, Udaari, Khuda Mera Bhi Hay who bring out social and domestic issues about corrupt feudal lords, honor killing, child abuse, the humiliation of transgender, which are common but ignored. Similarly ‘Dar Si Jati Hay Sila’, and ‘Pyar k Sadkay’ having Yumna Zaidi as one of the protagonists both the times, were focused on child abuse, domestic abuse, childhood trauma, gender discrimination, physical, verbal & sexual harassment wherein the antagonists were the male members of the house such as the uncle and the stepfather respectively. Unlike most dramas, there were both male and female characters who stood up for justice and that too not just in the end but they stood their stance throughout the drama. PEMRA, however, finds the content ‘instigating’ saying that the stories rather give ideas to predators or pollute people’s minds. However, the dramas are finished but PEMRA isn’t allowing their repeat telecast.
