The Sindh High Court (SHC) has directed the trial court to conclude the case against accused drug dealer Anmol alias Pinky within three months.
The order came during a hearing of a bail petition on Friday. The court also dismissed the bail petitions of Pinky’s two co-accused, Zeeshan and Sohail, after they withdrew their applications.
Court Sets Three-Month Deadline
Justice Iqbal Kalhoro observed that the accused could submit fresh bail applications if the trial court fails to conclude the case within the given timeframe.
The judge said the court would consider any new bail application on its merits. Meanwhile, the trial court will continue proceedings against the accused according to law.
Zeeshan and Sohail face charges of allegedly facilitating Anmol alias Pinky in financial matters. The prosecution claims both accused have links to a micro-financing business.
Accused Allegedly Verified Narcotics Payments
The state counsel told the court that the accused allegedly verified receipts linked to narcotics transactions involving Pinky. According to the prosecution, delivery riders waited for this verification before delivering the drugs.
The counsel further alleged that the accused played a financial role in the drug transactions. However, the court has yet to determine the merits of these allegations.
The SHC’s order gives the trial court three months to complete proceedings against Pinky. The development could also affect the bail position of the co-accused if the trial remains pending beyond the deadline.
Zeeshan and Sohail may approach the high court again if the trial court fails to conclude the case within the stipulated period. The court will then decide their applications based on the circumstances at that stage.
