Security forces foiled an attempt by terrorists to establish an illegal check post near Kalat and rescued 23 abductees during a successful operation. The military’s media wing said the operation took place during the night of September 18-19 along the Chaman-Karachi N-25 highway.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), terrorists belonging to Fitna al Hindustan tried to disrupt traffic movement on the Pakistan Highway. The group allegedly planned to abduct travelers for ransom, extort money, and snatch vehicles from commuters.
Security Forces Launch Swift Response
Security forces immediately responded after receiving information about the terrorist activity. Following an intense exchange of fire, troops killed five terrorists and dismantled their plans to establish a check post in the area.
The ISPR stated that the terrorists were part of an Indian-sponsored proxy group operating in Balochistan. Furthermore, the military said the operation prevented a major threat to travelers using the vital national highway.
During the raid, security personnel rescued 23 abductees from the terrorists’ hideout. They also recovered six trucks, three buses, and two cars that had been taken by the militants.
Weapons and Explosives Recovered
Security forces recovered a large quantity of weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the hideout. Moreover, officials said the successful operation frustrated the group’s efforts to create fear and disrupt public movement.
The ISPR added that sanitisation operations continue in nearby areas to eliminate any remaining terrorists. Authorities are also working to ensure the safety of local residents and secure important national highways.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to the counter-terrorism campaign under the Azm-e-Istehkam strategy. It said security forces would continue operations with full resolve against all terrorist threats.
