Security forces have killed more than 71 terrorists in a series of counter-terrorism operations across Balochistan during the last 96 hours, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday. The military said the operations were launched following credible intelligence reports about militant activity in various parts of the province.
ISPR stated that security forces carried out a swift operation in Ziarat and surrounding areas on September 21. According to the military, the operations targeted groups identified by authorities as Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan.
Operations Intensify Across Key Areas
The latest actions included continued operations in Shaban, areas around Quetta and Ziarat, and an intelligence-based operation in Nushki. Security forces expanded their efforts to dismantle militant hideouts and disrupt terrorist networks operating in the region.
Under Operation Shaban, troops conducted further raids against militant positions on September 24 and killed 33 terrorists. Meanwhile, ISPR reported that security personnel eliminated five more militants after an intense exchange of fire, raising the total number of terrorists killed during the operation to 22.
Security Efforts to Continue
The military also recovered weapons, ammunition, and explosives during the operations. Furthermore, ISPR said clearance activities would continue in Shaban until all threats in the area had been removed.
The statement added that security forces and law-enforcement agencies would continue counter-terrorism operations under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the forces for their successful actions and commended their professional capabilities. He said the operations had disrupted militant plans and reaffirmed that efforts would continue against terrorist groups across the country.
