Pakistan has accused India of expanding what it described as terrorist activities beyond the region during the UN General Assembly session. Islamabad raised the allegations while exercising its Right of Reply after India responded to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s address.
Counsellor Saima Saleem rejected India’s accusations against Pakistan and criticised New Delhi’s position on terrorism. She alleged that India had used propaganda and disinformation while supporting terrorism as an instrument of policy.
Pakistan Raises Allegations Before UN General Assembly
Saleem referred to Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav, whom Pakistan convicted on terrorism and espionage charges. She also cited Nikhil Gupta, who pleaded guilty in the United States to a plot targeting a Sikh leader.
The Pakistani diplomat further referred to alleged assassination activities in Canada involving Indian nationals. She said these cases showed what Pakistan described as India’s involvement in violence beyond its borders.
Saleem also claimed that Pakistan had lost nearly 100,000 lives because of what she called India-sponsored terrorism. According to her, the alleged attacks had affected generations and caused billions of dollars in economic losses.
Islamabad Highlights Counterterrorism Efforts
The Pakistani diplomat said the international community had recognised Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts and sacrifices. She also said Islamabad had presented evidence concerning India’s alleged financing and support for groups targeting Pakistani civilians and security personnel.
Meanwhile, India had accused Pakistan of spreading falsehoods and warned of consequences over what it described as terrorism originating from Pakistan. Pakistan rejected those allegations during its Right of Reply at the UNGA.
Saleem also called on India to condemn attacks that kill Pakistani civilians. She said Pakistan remained committed to highlighting what it described as Indian support for terrorism before the international community.
