Twitter lays off 10pc of current workforce: report

Twitter Inc laid off at least 200 employees, which is about 10% of its workforce.

The job cuts affected product managers, data scientists, and engineers who worked on machine learning and site reliability, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter.

Elon Musk took over the micro-blogging site last October and this is the latest round of job cuts since then. Although Reuters requested comment, Twitter did not respond immediately.

According to Musk‘s statement last month, the company currently has around 2,300 active employees.

Musk‘s cost-cutting measures at Twitter led to a mass layoff of approximately 3,700 employees in early November.

The most recent job cuts, which occurred on Saturday, impacted product managers, data scientists, and engineers working on machine learning and site reliability.

Musk, who acquired Twitter for $44 billion, made the move due to a significant drop in revenue caused by advertisers reducing their spending over concerns about content moderation.

However, Twitter has started sharing revenue from advertisements with some content creators. Earlier on the same day, The Information reported that Twitter had laid off several dozen employees to counteract a decline in revenue.

Elon Musk hired a CEO for Twitter.

It’s interesting that a dog, not a human, is the new CEO of Twitter.

He is Shiba Inu Floki, Musk’s beloved dog.

The brand-new CEO of Twitter believes that his dog Floki would make a superior CEO to the “other person,” Parag Agrawal. Notably, Musk terminated Agarwal as soon as he acquired control of the business in a $44 billion purchase.
