The US Department of Defense has not provided any funds for SpaceX’s Starlink services, according to billionaire Elon Musk on Tuesday. A day earlier, sources claimed that the Pentagon was considering footing the bill for the Starlink satellite network in conflict-torn Ukraine.
SpaceX is losing around $20 million a month due to unpaid service and expenses for security precautions for cyberwar protection, but Musk stated that “we’ll keep doing it (sigh)”.
No money from the DoD, but many other nations, organisations, and individuals are paying for about 11k/25k terminals, according to Musk.
Musk, the world’s richest person and CEO of Tesla Inc, stated that SpaceX spends nearly $20 million per month on satellite services in Ukraine and that the company has spent approximately $80 million to enable, support, and support Starlink there.
Politico reported on Monday that the Pentagon is considering paying for the service to Ukraine, citing two US officials involved in the discussions.
