Pakistan’s information technology (IT) sector continues to show strong momentum, reaching a historic milestone with exports hitting $342 million in March 2025 — the highest monthly figure on record, according to the Ministry of Information Technology.
Over the first nine months of the 2025 fiscal year, total IT exports surged to $2.8 billion, reflecting sustained growth and increasing global demand for Pakistani digital services. March marked the 18th consecutive month of rising IT exports, a trend officials attribute to effective policy measures and facilitation by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).
This upward trajectory aligns with the government’s ambitious “Uraan Pakistan” strategy, which aims to elevate annual IT exports to $10 billion. The plan hinges on a mix of currency stability, investor confidence, and business-friendly policies to accelerate sectoral growth.
“The steady increase in exports shows that Pakistan’s IT industry is gaining solid traction internationally,” said an official from the Ministry of IT. “Our local tech firms are expanding their global footprint at a remarkable pace.”
Just two months ago, IT exports had already shown impressive progress with a 28% year-on-year jump, reaching $1.86 billion. Minister of State for IT, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, expressed confidence that the upward trend would continue in the coming quarters, supported by strategic initiatives and growing international demand.
