All public and private educational institutions in Peshawar will remain closed on Monday, October 12, following an official notification issued by the district administration.
The deputy commissioner’s office announced the holiday on Sunday, October 11. The directive covers schools, colleges and universities across Peshawar district and requires them to suspend academic activities for the day.
District Administration Issues Closure Order
According to the notification, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Muhammad Daud Saleemi issued the order under the authority of the deputy commissioner’s office.
The administration forwarded copies of the notification to relevant government departments, police officials, education authorities and heads of educational institutions. Consequently, both public and private institutions must comply with the closure directive.
However, the notification did not specify a reason for the holiday.
Security Situation Prompts Closure
The announcement came amid heightened security concerns in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. On Sunday, authorities also discussed the broader law and order situation during a high-level security meeting chaired by KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi.
Officials reviewed security arrangements and discussed measures to maintain peace across the provincial capital. They also decided to remove containers placed across Peshawar in phases, as circumstances permit.
Students Advised to Follow Official Updates
Students, parents and teachers should follow announcements from their respective institutions for further instructions. Those with scheduled classes or academic activities on October 12 should confirm any changes directly with their schools, colleges or universities.
The closure applies to educational institutions within Peshawar district. Students in other districts should check announcements from their local administrations rather than assume the same order applies throughout the province.
