Residents of Islamabad’s Roshan Pakistan Housing Scheme have sought the prime minister’s intervention over prolonged delays in development and the absence of basic facilities.
The housing scheme, located in E-16, has faced complaints about incomplete infrastructure and unmet promises. Residents have repeatedly called on relevant authorities to address their concerns and hold the society’s management accountable.
Residents Face Shortage of Basic Facilities
The community has reported problems involving roads, drainage, sewerage, water supply and streetlights. Residents have also raised concerns about the lack of parks, playgrounds and other essential amenities.
These shortcomings have affected daily life for families living in the area. Residents say they purchased plots after receiving assurances that the society would provide the promised facilities.
However, development work remains incomplete despite years of complaints.
Questions Over Society’s Approval
The Roshan Pakistan Housing Scheme has also faced regulatory concerns. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) previously cancelled its layout plan and No-Objection Certificate (NOC) in 2017.
The original layout plan covered 1,619 kanals and received approval in 2004. The CDA issued an NOC in 2006, with development expected to finish within five years.
However, the deadline passed without completion of the promised work. The authority later issued notices to the society’s management over violations and complaints from residents.
Residents Demand Government Action
Residents want the federal government and relevant authorities to intervene and ensure the provision of basic facilities. They have also called for accountability over the society’s development commitments and the status of land reserved for public amenities.
The latest appeal reflects continuing concerns among residents who say they have waited years for essential services. They are seeking concrete action to resolve the problems and improve living conditions in the housing scheme.
