The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has intensified its campaign against illegal construction by sealing 11 buildings across different housing schemes in the city. The operation targeted residential, commercial, and multi-story buildings that allegedly violated approved building regulations.
According to the RDA, the enforcement drive formed part of its ongoing efforts to curb unauthorized construction and promote planned urban development throughout Rawalpindi.
RDA Takes Action Against Illegal Construction
The operation was carried out on the directions of the competent authority.
During the enforcement drive, the RDA sealed eight illegally constructed residential buildings and two commercial buildings.
In addition, officials sealed one multi-story building for violating its approved building plan and other applicable construction regulations.
The authority said the action reflects its continued commitment to enforcing planning laws without exception.
Operation Conducted Under Planning Laws
The RDA stated that the enforcement action was taken under the Punjab Development of Cities Act, 1976.
Moreover, officials implemented the operation in accordance with the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations and other relevant planning laws.
The authority stressed that every action was taken within the legal framework governing urban development and construction activities.
Enforcement Team Led the Operation
Deputy Director Planning Muhammad Daud supervised the operation.
Building Inspector Shafiqur Rahman also participated alongside members of the RDA Enforcement Squad.
The team inspected multiple sites before taking action against buildings found to be in violation of approved regulations.
RDA Vows to Continue Crackdown
According to the RDA spokesperson, the ongoing campaign aims to discourage illegal construction throughout Rawalpindi.
Furthermore, the authority wants to encourage planned urban development while protecting the interests of genuine property owners and investors.
The spokesperson added that legal action against unauthorized construction will continue without discrimination.
The authority also reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing building regulations and ensuring that future development complies with approved planning standards across the city.
