LAHORE: Rain and thunderstorms have brought cooler weather to several parts of Punjab, with Faisalabad, Chiniot, Layyah and Bhakkar receiving showers. Attock also witnessed heavy rain and hail overnight. Meanwhile, dark clouds covered several cities as more rain remained possible across the region.
Heavy Rain Hits Faisalabad and Chiniot
Several areas of Faisalabad received heavy rain, bringing relief from the recent heat. Meanwhile, light rain continued in Chiniot and nearby areas during the morning. The showers made the weather cooler and more pleasant for residents.
Rain and Strong Winds Sweep Southern Punjab
Rain accompanied by strong winds affected several areas of southern Punjab. Layyah, Bhakkar, Karor Lal Esan and Fatehpur received showers during the day.
Bhakkar city and nearby areas also experienced cooler weather after the rain.
However, the weather disruption affected electricity supplies. Several feeders tripped soon after the rain began.
Dark Clouds Cover Central Punjab
Meanwhile, dark clouds remained over several cities in central Punjab. The affected areas included Jhang, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Sargodha and Chakwal. The cloudy conditions could bring further showers to some areas.
Residents may therefore experience cooler temperatures as the weather system moves across the province.
Islamabad May Receive Rain and Hail
Islamabad may also receive rain, thunderstorms and hail today. The federal capital recorded a morning temperature of 22°C. The temperature could reach 32°C during the day.
Meanwhile, residents may experience thunderstorms in some parts of the city.
Lahore, KP and GB Forecast Rain
The Meteorological Department has forecast rain in Lahore. The city could receive afternoon showers, while the minimum temperature may reach 26°C. Winds are expected to blow at around 8 kilometres per hour. Humidity could remain around 83 per cent.
Moreover, weather officials have forecast rain in parts of Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Karachi to Remain Hot
Unlike Punjab and northern areas, Karachi is expected to remain hot. The temperature in the port city could reach 35°C today. According to the Meteorological Department, south-westerly winds are blowing at around 18 kilometres per hour. Humidity stands at approximately 74 per cent.
Meanwhile, airborne particle concentration remains below 100 particulate matter units.
Sudden Weather Change in Kot Addu
Several areas of interior Sindh have also experienced a sudden weather shift. Kot Addu and surrounding areas reported cooler conditions as strong winds moved through the region. The changing weather has brought some relief from warmer conditions.
Overall, rain has improved weather conditions across several parts of Punjab and northern Pakistan. However, Karachi and some southern areas are expected to remain comparatively warmer.
