The Punjab Finance Department has approved Rs4 billion to pay salaries and stipends to College Teacher Interns (CTIs) across the province.
The funds will initially be transferred to the Higher Education Department for payments to the interns, according to officials.
Punjab Plans to Recruit Over 9,000 CTIs
The Higher Education Department has submitted a summary seeking approval to recruit more than 9,000 CTIs for government colleges across Punjab.
The proposal is currently awaiting approval from the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
Officials said the Finance Department has already completed the necessary financial arrangements for the recruitment drive.
However, the Rs4 billion allocation will be released to the Higher Education Department after approval of the recruitment summary.
New CTIs to Support Government Colleges
The proposed recruitment aims to address teaching requirements in government colleges across Punjab.
Once the Chief Minister’s Office approves the summary and releases the funds, the Higher Education Department will begin the recruitment process.
The department will then place the selected CTIs in government colleges according to teaching requirements.
The latest development comes as the Punjab government seeks to address staffing needs through temporary teaching appointments.
The recruitment of more than 9,000 interns could provide additional teaching support to colleges across the province while the government manages existing staffing requirements.
