The federal government has approved a 35 percent salary increase for university teachers working under the Tenure Track System (TTS). The revised salaries will take effect from July 1, 2026.
The Ministry of Finance issued an office memorandum confirming the approval. The federal cabinet approved the TTS Pay Package 2026 after ratifying the Prime Ministerโs decision from September 20, 2021.
The new package updates the salary structure for professors, associate professors, and assistant professors serving under the TTS system.
Revised Salary Structure for TTS Professors
Under the updated pay package, the minimum salary of a TTS professor has increased from Rs. 394,875 to Rs. 407,230. The annual increment has also increased from Rs. 19,305 to Rs. 20,320.
Meanwhile, the maximum salary for professors has risen from Rs. 684,450 to Rs. 712,300.
The revised structure aims to improve financial benefits for senior university faculty members. It also reflects the governmentโs efforts to update compensation packages for higher education professionals.
Associate and Assistant Professors Receive Higher Pay
The new salary package also increases payments for associate professors. Their minimum salary has increased from Rs. 263,250 to Rs. 370,810.
The annual increment for associate professors has moved from Rs. 15,356 to Rs. 18,320. In addition, the maximum salary has increased from Rs. 493,590 to Rs. 645,610.
For assistant professors, the minimum salary has increased from Rs. 175,500 to Rs. 288,020. Their annual increment has also improved from Rs. 12,065 to Rs. 17,720.
Furthermore, the maximum salary for assistant professors has increased from Rs. 356,475 to Rs. 553,820.
New Scale Implementation for Existing Teachers
The Ministry of Finance stated that TTS teachers serving on June 30, 2026, will move to the new TTS-2026 scale.
Their current basic salaries will transfer to the same stage in the revised scale. This adjustment will ensure a smooth transition for faculty members already working under the Tenure Track System.
The salary revision is expected to provide financial relief to university teachers and improve incentives within Pakistanโs higher education sector. Moreover, the updated package may help universities retain experienced faculty members by offering better compensation opportunities.
