108,000 Students Receive Honhaar Scholarships
During the ceremony, officials highlighted progress under the Honhaar Scholarship Programme. Across its first three phases, the Punjab government has awarded scholarships to 108,000 students.
The programme provides financial assistance to students who face difficulties covering their educational expenses. It aims to help deserving candidates continue their studies without financial pressure.
Maryam Nawaz Vows Support for Deserving Students
Addressing the gathering, Maryam Nawaz spoke about the challenges faced by students from financially struggling families.
She highlighted the difficulties experienced by students who have lost their fathers or whose fathers work as daily wage labourers.
The chief minister said financial hardship should not force capable students to abandon their education. She also stressed that hardworking students from different backgrounds deserved opportunities to pursue their academic goals.
Government Expands Education Support
The laptop distribution and scholarship programme form part of Punjab’s broader efforts to support students through technology and financial assistance.
Laptops can help students access online learning materials, conduct research and develop digital skills. Meanwhile, scholarships can reduce the financial burden on families.
The latest distribution in Rawalpindi Division marks another step in the provincial government’s education support initiatives.
