Lahore: The Punjab government has introduced a convenient new service that lets citizens obtain marriage certificates directly through E-Khidmat centers across the province. This initiative, rolled out by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), aims to make the registration process faster, more secure, and completely hassle-free for newlywed couples.
Simplified Process at 15 Centers
The service is currently available at 15 E-Khidmat centers, where staff assist applicants during operating hours from 9 am to 5 pm. People can also gather information through the official e-Khidmat Punjab portal or by calling the helpline 1317.
Moreover, authorities make it mandatory for all couples getting married to register their marriages with the concerned union council. The necessary documents include Nikah Nama, CNICs of both parties, ID cards of the parents of the couple, and CNICs of the witnesses.
Digital Push for Better Service Delivery
On the other hand, NADRA provides a digital marriage certificate service for individuals using the Pak-ID app which works only in certain districts including Chakwal, Nankana Sahib, and some parts of Karachi and Quetta.
Overall, many citizens have responded favorably to the innovation since they see it not only as a convenience.
