Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has claimed that unidentified armed men abducted Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Housing Minister Dr Amjad Ali after entering his residence in Swat. The party said the attackers vandalised property before forcibly taking the provincial minister away.
PTI shared the allegations on Friday, October 9, amid growing concerns over reports of missing party leaders and lawmakers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. However, the circumstances surrounding Dr Amjad Ali’s reported disappearance remain unclear.
Incident Raised Before Peshawar High Court
The alleged abduction also came up during proceedings at the Peshawar High Court (PHC). A three-member larger bench, headed by Justice Ijaz Anwar, heard 27 petitions involving PTI leaders and provincial ministers.
During the hearing, a lawyer informed the court that unidentified individuals had taken Dr Amjad Ali from Swat during the night.
The counsel expressed concern over the reported incidents involving party members. He also referred to another alleged abduction involving an MPA from Mardan.
PTI Raises Concerns Over Missing Leaders
In its statement, PTI referred to other incidents involving party figures. These included the reported abduction of former provincial minister Fazal Shakoor Khan from Peshawar and MPA Abdul Salam Afridi from Mardan.
The party also mentioned an alleged assassination attempt against former provincial minister Shakil Khan. Additionally, it said MPA Sultan Room had gone missing from Swat.
These reports have intensified concerns within PTI as the party continues political activities across the province.
Political Tensions Continue in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The reported incident comes as PTI continues its long march under the leadership of KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. The party has raised concerns about the safety of its leaders and workers during the ongoing political mobilisation.
Meanwhile, the allegations surrounding Dr Amjad Ali’s disappearance require further clarification from the relevant authorities. The available reports do not establish who took the minister or where he is currently located.
Further information from police and provincial authorities may clarify the circumstances of the reported incident.
